Looking for a low-stress, highly rewarding part-time position where you can make a deep 1:1 impact without the burn-out of managing a massive classroom?
Ro Health is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Special Education Teacher (ESN / Mod-Severe) for a specialized 1:1 home instruction placement in Roseville. You will be working directly with a high school freshman who is eager to learn in a quiet, supportive home environment.
Placement Highlights
- True 1:1 Focus: Direct instruction for one high school freshman—no large classroom management, no complex group dynamics, and no behavioral concerns.
- Part-Time & Flexible: Just 5 hours per week (300 minutes). Perfect for semi-retired educators, teachers looking to supplement a part-time schedule, or someone seeking low-friction instructional work.
- Instructional Focus: Focus entirely on functional academics, creative sensory/AAC communication development, and IEP goal progression.
Key Requirements & Student Needs
- Strict Medical Hygiene & Cleanliness: The student is medically fragile with a compromised immune system. The candidate must adhere to strict personal hygiene protocols, sanitization practices, and infection control prior to and during home visits.
- Communication & AAC Development: The student has limited verbal communication skills. We are looking for a teacher skilled (or highly creative) in developing alternative communication methods, assistive technology, visual boards, or PECS/AAC devices to help the student express themselves.
- Extensive Support Needs (ESN): Tailoring instructional goals to meet high-support developmental needs.
What You Will Do
- Deliver 300 minutes of weekly 1:1 specialized academic and functional instruction in the student’s home.
- Develop, adapt, and implement unique communication strategies and visual systems tailored to the student's learning style.
- Track IEP goal progress and document instructional minutes using district-approved software (e.g., SEIS).
- Maintain a clean, calm, and highly hygienic learning space during instruction.
- Collaborate closely with the student's family and district special education team to celebrate progress and adjust accommodations.
What You Need
- Credential: Active California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with Extensive Support Needs (ESN / Code R3EN) or legacy Moderate/Severe (MS / SEMS) / Severely Handicapped (SH) authorization.
- Status: Preliminary, Clear, or Level I/II credentials accepted.
- English Learner Authorization: ELAE, CLAD, or embedded equivalent.
- Core Aptitudes: Exceptional hygiene standards, patience, strong foundational knowledge of alternative/augmented communication (AAC) strategies, and a gentle, encouraging instructional style.

- Guaranteed PTO & Sick Time: Accrue paid time off even on part-time and per-diem schedules.
- Dedicated Local Support: One direct point of contact at Ro Health to handle district admin, onboarding, and logistics so you can focus purely on teaching.
